Polenta Pizza Base
Want to make a fun pizza base or want to eat gluten free pizza crust?. I tried a few different ways of making gluten free pizza crust before I landed on this polenta solution and I really like it.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 cups polenta
- 4 cups water
- Sea Salt to Taste
Method:
- Preheat oven to 180C
- Boil the water with salt
- Add the polenta slowly while stirring
- Keep stirring for the next 5 minutes while the polenta gets creamy
- Sit the pot aside for a couple of minutes
- Put baking paper on your pizza tray/trays – one large or two smaller
- Spread the polenta mixture out onto the trays using a wet spatula
- Bake the bases until they are crispy – it can take a while as you have to get them to really dry out
- Allow them to cool and then store in an airtight container or load up with pizza toppings and go for it
Hot Tips:
- Turn the bases over half way through the process or a couple of times so that they really dry out on both sides
Variations:
- You can also mix herbs or other flavours like garlic into the base if you like
